What it's careful about for home services and the trades
On top of the rule for everyone: never invent a price, a review or a claim your records don't back up.
- Say "licensed", "insured", "certified" or "warranty" only when the business provided it.
- Never show a customer's address or house number.
- Safety tips stay general: for gas, electrical or structural problems, tell people to call a professional.
- Include the contractor license number from the business's credentials where the state requires it in ads (California does); never say "bonded" unless the business did.
- Say "24/7" or "emergency service" only when the hours say so, and never use scare tactics.
